Inside its current exhibition Tu felix Austria … draw!, the Karikaturmuseum Krems presents Exkurs #5, a show of portraits by drawing artist Frank Hoppmann.

Hoppmann, born 1975 in Germany, is the recipient of an AIR – ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Lower Austria scholarship, which he won as part of the 2018 SOKOL – Award for digital caricature, critical drawing art and satire. The artist spent the summer of 2020 on a residency in Krems.

Hoppmann’s work has appeared in the satirical magazine Eulenspiegel as well as in periodicals such as Welt, Welt am Sonntag, Handelsblatt, Münstersche Zeitung, Rolling Stone, and the Los Angeles Times. The Karikaturmuseum Krems shows a selection of portraits of political figures alongside sketches and other previously unpublished work from the private possession of the artist.
